A brief history of SOLIS

<p><strong>1908 </strong>– The developer of the famous electrical heating pad, <strong>Dr. W. Schaufelberger, founded the SOLIS AG</strong> engaging in production and distribution.</p> <p>In the following years the <strong>product range was extended</strong> into the fields "Electrical heating pads/Cuddlesome warmth", "Household" and "Beauty".</p> <p><strong>1933 </strong>– Commencement of the <strong>hairdryer production in Zurich</strong> </p> <p><strong>The first SOLIS Hairdryer </strong>made out of metal and wood. At that time, there was no plastic material available.</p> <p><strong>The first SOLIS Hairdryer Series</strong> – not to forget, all components were made by SOLIS.</p> <p><strong>1943</strong> – <strong>SOLIS took over social responsibility</strong> by following the call of the Bundesrat (Swiss federal council) and moved the production to the economically weakened Canton of Ticino in southern Switzerland. In the 50s, SOLIS became active in the international markets.</p> <p><strong>1959</strong> – Hairdryer <strong>export success</strong> in the USA and ten years later in Asia. Even today, Japan’s hair stylists swear by the quality of SOLIS hairdryers "Made in Switzerland".</p> <p><strong>1983 </strong>– The entrepreneur<strong> Willi A. Nauer took over the SOLIS AG</strong> and expanded it to the SOLIS group.</p> <p><strong>1985</strong> – SOLIS launched the <strong>worldwide first fully automatic espresso machine</strong> for households and has sold over half a million units up to this day.</p> <p><strong>1993</strong> - Opening of its <strong>own production and service centre</strong>, the ‘Centro SOLIS’ in Mendrisio/Ticino, Switzerland.</p> <p><strong>1999 </strong>– Introduction of the<strong> first high-quality conical burr grinder</strong> SOLIS Scala. </p> <p><strong>2002 </strong>– SOLIS sets new standards with the <strong>production of the first ion-hairdryer</strong>. The continuous development of new appliances increases the SOLIS product ranges to 4 individual lines. </p> <p><strong>2008 </strong>- SOLIS is celebrating the<strong>100<sup>th</sup> Birthday</strong></p> <p><strong>2009</strong> – The consumer awareness for <strong>healthy cooking products</strong> is increasing and SOLIS follows this trend also in the international market with new products such as a citrus press, fat-free grill and rice cooker.</p> <p><strong>2011</strong> –Establishment of three strategic business <strong>divisions</strong>: <strong>Hospitality</strong>, <strong>Professional </strong>and<strong> Home</strong></p>
